The New Children's Museum of New Hampshire
Highland
Hardwoods is pleased to announce our new partnership
with the Children's Museum Of New Hampshire - our
state's most popular destination for family fun and
learning. Highland is the proud sponsor of one of
the museum's newest and most exciting major exhibit
"Step Into A Story."
Step Into a Story
Presented by Highland
Hardwoods
Imagine walking into the pages
of a giant picture book and having it spring to
life around you. That is the experience you will
enjoy in the "Step Into a Story" exhibit.
Come in and become a part of the story "The
Cats of Mrs. Calamari" by New Hampshire
author John Stadler.
Jump up onto the big green couch
with a giant mouse, or put costumes on the cats
who play starring roles in the story. Pick up the
phone and listen to the author tell how he came
up with his story ideas. There is even a place to
sit and read the book, then compose your own ending
on a large magnetic board nearby. This exhibit's
many interactive components get everyone excited
about reading!
The "new" Children's Museum of New Hampshire
opened in July 2008 with triple the exhibit, performance
and classroom space, enhanced amenities, fully accessible
resources and new exhibits to complement old favorites
that have informed and entertained the 1.4 million
visitors the Children's Museum has welcomed since
its founding nearly 25 years ago.
The
museum offers a range of hands-on informal learning
opportunities in the areas of science, art, music,
math, and more. The museum's unique exhibits have
been designed and created by the staff in conjunction
with New Hampshire artisans, and all are based on
important developmental and educational principles.
Throughout the year, the museum offers a variety
of special events including live musical performances,
literacy days, workshops, classes and holiday celebrations.
The museum hosts Scout overnights and group visits
from schools, preschools and homeschool groups. The
museum also has a birthday party program and is available
for private rental.
