Customer Highlight
We have added a new & very exciting feature to our
company's web site, "Customer Highlight."
Many of our hardwood lumber customers make a variety
of beautiful and very unique handmade custom wood
products from the hardwoods they purchase from us.
Some bring in pictures to show us what they made,
and sometimes even the products themselves. We thought
it would be exciting on occasion to "highlight"
some of these customers and their work, and share
some information about them that would be of interest
to others.
Our current
Customer Highlight is...
Wayne Marcoux
Manchester, NH
Since opening his own shop in 1986, Wayne Marcoux
has been building furniture that incorporates traditional
joinery with fine hand-detailed finish work. His particular
interest is in desks and in the challenges they present
in building a piece of beautiful and long-lasting
furniture that fulfills a variety of functions - storage,
organization and security - and is still a comfortable
writing, typing and/or keyboard surface. Over the
past decade, Marcoux has fashioned numerous interpretations
including: slant-top, Shaker style, drop-front, computer,
receptionist, executive, and simple writing desks.
An
associate master of the New Hampshire Furniture Masters
Association, President of the Guild of New Hampshire
Woodworkers, and State Juried Member in the League
of New Hampshire Craftsmen, Marcoux has received the
League's Best Traditional
Design and Best
in Wood awards. He has also been recognized
in national competition for his residential furniture
designs.
Marcoux enjoys working in various furniture styles,
gently intermixing styles that compliment each other
and blend well with the other furniture that the piece
will stand with.
"So far, I haven't gotten hung up on one particular
style. There is something about all styles that I
like. One of my mentors calls me the 'schizophrenic
woodworker.' I really don't know how he meant that,
but I took it as a compliment."
Marcoux's favorite style is the one his client wants
or likes best. He enjoys working with people on the
design and coming up with something different that
will either blend or stand out in its new home.
"I consider myself the middle man between a
client's idea or need and its fulfillment. I don't
have to live with the piece, the client does."
Marcoux gets a lot of satisfaction from the whole
process - starting with an idea, designing and collaborating
with the client, doing shows and exhibits, marketing
and meeting new people - but what he enjoys the most
is building the furniture.
"I love doing the work!"
We are pleased to announce
that Wayne Marcoux, and one of his newest works of
art, will be featured in an upcoming edition of Fine
Woodworking magazine!
