About Our Delivery Service

All of us at Highland Hardwoods take a great deal of pride in the quality of delivery service we are able to offer our customers. Our transportation department handles the delivery of all the lumber we supply to our wholesale accounts... an estimated 1MM per month! We are equipped to handle deliveries of as little as one 500' pack up to a full truckload of lumber.

At Highland Hardwoods, each and every year our traffic department continues to modify and "fine tune" the various elements of our delivery service in order to keep pace with the hardwood industry as well as the ever-changing needs of our customers. For example, we are able to offer "just on time" deliveries to accommodate orders we receive on very short notice... something that has become increasingly commonplace in this day and age.

To help insure consistent and reliable delivery service to our customers, we maintain a fleet of modern, well-maintained delivery trucks, including two tractor-trailers and three straight trucks. We have converted our entire fleet to "curtain-side" trucks and trailers, to ensure that our lumber is protected from the elements at all times, free from all of the dirt, dust, mud, road salt, etc. out on the highway.

Our friendly and courteous drivers are all very experienced, and will do everything they can to help you deal with the challenges of the sometimes "difficult" unloading conditions that arise at destination.

Highland Transport

In addition to the ongoing delivery service of hardwood lumber to our company's wholesale customers, we have developed a commercial transportation service called Highland Transport. Independent of our regular business, Highland Transport offers commercial flatbed delivery service of lumber and building materials all across the Eastern United States. We offer competitive rates and are always looking for ways to expand our newly developed commercial transportation service.

Coverage Area

Our normal service area encompasses most of New England reaching out as far North as Bangor Maine and Burlington Vermont, to the South extending from the Cape in Massachusetts to Hartford Ct. and as far West as Eastern New York State. We do service accounts beyond that range, however, through the use of common carrier service.

Wholesale Lumber Delivery

Wholesale Hardwood lumber is still the mainstay of our company. We service both small and large furniture companies; molding and picture frame manufacturers; architectural millwork houses; cabinet shops; flooring manufacturers and pretty much any commercial user of quality hardwood lumber.

Our main service area encompasses the entire New England region, although we have the capability to reach beyond as well. We plan weekly runs throughout the New England states, and can usually make deliveries within 3-5 days from when an order is placed. Delivery times are longer when milling is required.

Our standard policy on delivered orders is a minimum of 500 bd ft of lumber - to make it cost effective to run our trucks. On smaller quantities, or for orders outside of our delivery area, we usually ask that the customer make arrangements to pick up the stock ordered at our distribution yard facility in Brentwood NH. Our delivery charges are based on quantity and distance, usually established when the order is placed.

Flooring Delivery

Flooring delivery is available upon request with a minimum of 250 square feet. In general, our shipping area covers a 60-mile radius with consideration for further distances. Rates will vary depending on the quantity of flooring to be delivered and the distance traveled. In general, 1st or 2nd floor delivery is available with an increased rate for 2nd floor delivery. Please call for exact pricing. Customers outside the delivery area are required to set up their own trucking arrangements.

New Delivery Trucks -
The quality of our delivery service at Highland Hardwoods is always top priority. The customers we serve have come to expect prompt delivery service for the lumber they order from us, as they have critical deadlines to meet on their end. Reliability and dependability are essential to our customers, and our goal is to be "on time, every time." As the lead times for making deliveries has grown shorter and shorter in recent years, we have had to adapt to the "just in time" environment that has become very commonplace in our industry.

To accommodate our customers delivery needs, it is imperative that our equipment is in top operating condition all the time. To this end, we recently upgraded our fleet by purchasing two new tractor/trailers for making commercial lumber deliveries. We feel this was a necessary investment in order to maintain the integrity of our delivery service.

We currently maintain a fleet of 5 delivery trucks, which include a 2007 Volvo and a 2007 Western Star Tractor Trailer, 2 Mack Straight Trucks and a 2004 Ford F550 Flooring Delivery Truck. All our vehicles are curtain side to ensure that our lumber is protected from the elements at all times. We offer an experienced team of friendly and courteous drivers who are willing and able to provide the best service possible to our valued customers.
