Solid pre-finished flooring has the same construction as unfinished solid hardwood with a few exceptions. Pre-finished flooring is usually beveled on either two sides or all four sides and has a factory applied finish on each individual board.

Board thickness can range from 1/2" to 3/4" with 3/4" being the most common. Grading is more subjective but usually is dependent upon color variation allowed and average board length. Width availability usually ranges from 2-1/4" to 6" with board lengths between 12" to 78."

Pre-finished long length flooring is not common but can be ordered on a special order basis. Please contact us for more info.

Applications

This type of flooring must be stapled or nailed over an approved plywood sub-floor and must be installed on or above grade (1st floor and 2nd floor, no basement).

Grades

See samples of Mirage Red Oak grades below:

Select and Better, Prestige and/or 1st Grade Refers to flooring that will have the most uniform color and a longer average length.
Exclusive, Coastal, and Other Mid-range Grades Usually denotes more color variation with a shorter average length and can contain some small knots.
Traditional, Antique or 3rd Grade Flooring Refers to a floor with a wide range of color, the shortest average board length, and contains more mineral streaks as well as small knots.
